First Impressions
I was going to post this yesterday, but woke up with a headache that hung out until I went to bed, so entertaining you lot was pretty much the furthest thing from my mind. It's not that I don't love you, because I do, baby, I swear. I just needed some "me" time.
Anyway, Sunday evening wrapped up my first weekend of filming on the movie. It's a lot of fun so far, but my performance is probably going to be pretty uneven. The hardest thing to overcome seems to be avoiding the "camera voice", by which I mean the overprojection and overenunciation that inexperienced actors (read: people) use when they know they're on camera. Part of that stems from using dialogue which isn't natural to your own personal speaking style, I think. I've found that when I switch around the wording a little to be something I would actually say, it's much easier to use a natural tone and inflections. This defeats the purpose of acting in a way, I guess, but it's my first time, so get off my back. Oddly enough, I tend to find singing easier when I'm doing something unnatural like copping an accent.
For your entertainment, here's some phonecams from the set.

My movie-daughter and I

Brian, our Sound Engineer

The set's other Erin, undergoing fancification

Producer/Director Gwen (holding the camera)

Official on-set cat, Hudson
Named for Bill Paxton's character in Aliens
Much sweeter than this picture would indicate

Jamie, my lovely and talented movie-wife

Laura, mother of my arch-nemesis

Several people rehearsing a scene between takes

Tim and Brian, listening intently to God knows what
It's a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun, too. I find myself looking forward to this Sunday, the next day of shooting. If I don't end up completely sucking, I may look into doing this again some time.
Also, tonight is Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band down at Cicero's on the Delmar Loop. Big Damn Fun!
Currently listening to: "Hero", Ministry

You in a movie?? Now everybody will know how freakin adorable you are! (pause for the aaaawwwws)
Is this film have a distributor yet? I want to see it!!!!
I have realized some of the same problems. However, I heard your lines and you sounded awesome. Seriously - no sarcasm. Gwen and Dan will not hold back if they think you're doing it all wrong - trust me. If it makes you feel better, we all have about the same amount of experience...
Besides, this has been great fun so far. See you this weekend!
I love that song.
