The Zoo / That 70's Cave

D's parents were up this weekend, and we went to the zoo on Saturday! Despite living here over three years now, we had yet to take advantage of the St. Louis Zoo, which, by all accounts, is pretty nice as zoos go. It's pretty cool. I took about 30 phonecam shots, some of which came out well, some of which didn't. Here are a few of my favorites.

The whole set can be found here.

Sunday, we went to Meramec Caverns, the hideout of famed ne'erdowell Jesse James. It was a bit less impressive than the zoo.

Due to the decorations and signs and whatnot, I dubbed it "That 70's Cave". In the "Stage Room", there was a light show that consisted of the tour guide rapidly switching the floodlights on and off, to the tune of "God Bless America" or something. It was pretty funny, in a not-meant-to-be kind of way. She herself really was kind of funny, though, despite the "I've made this joke 7000 times already" delivery of her tour banter.

All in all, a good time was had, and her brother Wes and I took turns schooling each other at Burnout 3 in the evenings.

OMG~ hadn't been to Meremac Caverns in awhile and decided to take the kids in Aug. By the time I reached "God Bless America" I was ready to slit my writs?! ha ha

A PAINFUL experience.

Remember... don't TOUCH anything... you may harm the "natural beauty" of the cave! As if the pink lights, walk ways, and fudge stand are key in preservation?! ~chuckle~
