Hip Hop Xmas
Part of my gift to Denise was six months of drum lessons. Since it's hard to wrap up a concept, I rapped up a concept:
Many props to my ladies Princess Sara and Mom for the background vocals in the chorus.
Hip-Hop Xmas
Aaron Standridge (feat. P.Sara and LRS)
Maybe you're confused,
You got a hip hop track
Baby that's alright
I'ma shed that light like general electric
and it's gonna be eclectic
I know you like hittin those drums
While the guitar strums
Like the motherfuckin' 5-0 hittin' on bums
You come a long way all on your own
Dishin' out beats from your DW throne
You got funk chops, punk rock, shakin' that shit up
Rockin' the house with one pants leg rolled up
Bringin' that shit like it needs to be brought
and you're self-taught
But like Obi-Wan, teachin' those Jedi
You gotta learn to walk before you learn how to shred, I say,
Every great student deserves a teacher,
Bringin' on the knowledge like a double feature
Showin' you rolls and paradiddles
Honin' your skillz, buyin' you Skittles,
That you give to me, 'cause you don't like 'em
I'll get a sugar rush while you're rockin' the kick drum
Drum lessons
You're gonna take
Drum lessons
No mistake
Drum lessons
You're gonna take
Drum lessons
No mistake
Where you pick up the tracks is a choice you're makin'
But I've checked the facts
Don't want you learnin' from hacks
Or some crazy old man with a sawed-off axe
Between Overland, and Breckenridge Hills,
You got Rob Silverman's old school skills
He knows it all, jazz, metal and hiphop
Workin' at Fred Pierce's Studio Drum Shop
Midland Blvd, past Saints Ann and John,
He can teach you the rock until the break of dawn
Well-versed, well-regarded, not retarded, no way
and he's the same old cat that taught 1A to play
Closer in, up at Drum Headquarters
Friendly motherfuckers, chick drummer supporters
They got three dudes there that can teach a lesson,
So you got choices like a delicatessen
Dave Sweet represent, he played jazz in college,
Thirty minutes a week you can obtain his knowledge
Played around the world, doin' USO shows
Rockin' the Greek hoes for the m-i-l-itary
Been teachin' the skins here for almost ten years
Keepin' it real like Little House on the Prairie
Many props to my ladies Princess Sara and Mom for the background vocals in the chorus.

Your rap name shall be.... "Tree-Fiddy"!
Meredith says that is a cute idea.
You know... it's really a sad state of affairs when I update my blog more often than you update yours, cupcake!
